Helping Digital Nomads, Travelers, and Expats engage more thoughtfully with Indigenous Communities

At K’amoj Ri’i’l, we recognize the need for a more mindful approach to traveling — visiting any land outside of your own, for any period of time — that centers the voices, needs and presence of local Indigenous people, rather than the typical approach often taken by digital nomads, tourists, and expats that leads to extraction. We support visitors in honoring Indigenous heritage, wisdom, and rights, advocating for a more mindful approach to experiencing the lands we visit.

invites settlers, expats, digital nomads, and travelers to deepen their awareness, understanding, and respect for Indigenous peoples while occupying their land. By focusing on decolonization and Indigenous resurgence, it helps participants in dismantling colonial identities, communities, and systems, while supporting the reclamation of Indigenous lands, languages, practices, and knowledge.

Cultivating Cultural Consciousness

MISSION

In the Kaqchikel language, K’amoj Ri’i’l embodies the essence of "reconciliation," serving as the guiding principle behind our mission.

Based in the highlands surrounding Lake Atitlán, in what is now called Guatemala, K’amoj Ri’i’l is dedicated to fostering understanding, respect, and unity among visitors, and local communities while preserving and honoring the rich heritage and rights of Indigenous peoples and nations. Our commitment is to bridge cultural gaps, promote harmony, and enrich the experiences of individuals within these diverse groups.

Through cultural sensitivity and mindfulness education, we centre the voices and presence of Indigenous communities, ensuring they are heard and respected. By engaging in dialogue, education, and mindful regenerative living, we aim to cultivate communities that uphold the values of inclusivity, equity, self-determination, mutual aid, and truthful reconciliation.

Though our journey begins at Lake Atitlán, we envision a future where, through collective efforts, vibrant, just, and respectful communities thrive worldwide.
